Which lens you use depends on your application and the choice of camera.
C-mount is the most common lens mount in vision applications. They are suitable for chip sizes up to 2/3” although there is a limited range for 1” sensors also. There are high resolution versions for use with megapixel cameras.
Large Format lenses are generally used with cameras that have a chip size of 1” and larger . F-mount (Nikon) and M42 lenses are is very common for megapixel and linescan cameras which have physically large sensors.
9mm/12mm/17mm is a special range of lenses for use with micro-head or board cameras – such as the products we offer from Videology (see Cameras->Board Level)
